This may be a trivia shot. Do you know what this flower is?
This plant belongs to my neighbor whose dog I always find time to feed. Don't ask why. But yes, I feed other dogs too. So when I went to deliver my doggy treat to my dog neighbor, I chanced upon this plant with an interesting flower. And when I looked closer . . .
Yes. I had an "aha" moment too! Isn't that amazing?!!! From those lilac bloom comes the eggplant! Oh, what a clueless being am I! And since the flowers were so small and the plant so low, I was on all fours taking pictures and looking like a clown for all the neighbors to see! Haha! I never saw an eggplant plant before and always get (buy) mine from the supermarket! But my neighbor (the owner of the plant) saw me and she probably thought I looked silly and pathetic crouching in their front yard so in kindness offered me the eggplants to pick! Of course I immediately said yes! Blessed are those who feed animals for they will be rewarded! ;-)
And off I went to my kitchen with my fresh organic haul (that's my dog Sumo checking my harvest!), and immediately cleaned and chopped it and sauteed it in olive oil, with basil, nuts, garlic, pepper, tomatoes, and cheese and topped it on my spaghetti for a hearty lunch!
Hmmm, the best meals can be found right under your nose! I hope your weekend is just as rewarding and your flowers and their yield as yummy as mine! More yummy flowers at TodaysFlowers!

I've never seen the eggplant growing only in the stores. The blooms are very pretty.
A fun post Lui, I've never seen an eggplant plant before either, a very pretty bloom. And you put together a great meal on top of it all. Yum! Have a great week.

I would not have known the flower either but great to find it is eggplant!
The eggplant flowers are very lovely. I love the way a lot of vegetables look at the flowering stage. The yellow squash and cucumber flowers are beautiful to me too.
I never thought where eggplants came from, either! So I have learned something from you today!
That recipe sounds wonderful, too!!
I knew it...eggplant! I have been spying on our neighbor's plant and waiting for it to bloom.
I've seen the eggplant growing in the little patch of land the senior citizens her work on for fun, just to fill up their free time. Sometimes they gave away some of the vegetables away, but I'm more interested in photographing them. lol
Beautiful shots of egg plant flowers.
