Today is a holiday in my country but because there is a practice called "holiday of economics" where every holiday that falls on a Tuesday or a Thursday is moved to Monday or Friday. We used to call it "sandwich days" where there is a day sandwiched between the weekend and a holiday. Before, the "sandwich days" were considered holidays so then, we have a looonnnnng holiday! But now it is different. And now you know that my country is a fanatic of long holidays and the need to take long breaks from work. Of course, if you are the employer, I pity you.
But I am not a part of the regular work force so this holiday stuff is beyond me. Until now it is a totally vague and senseless concept for me. I mean like today we are celebrating the birth of one of our national hero Andres Bonifacio, but nope, we already did that yesterday, so everybody is back at work today. And yesterday, the advance celebration of Bonifacio, I asked people around, and most of them have no idea who is Bonifacio except of the monument at EDSA called Monumento! There is so much to remember of the people and events that make up our holidays but most of us chose to dwell on the present: malls, bazaars, gadgets, presents, panic buying, traffic participants, network stalkers, and plain bored/hyper/eyebag insomniacs are roaming the earth and filling my inbox with the need to go out and meet up only to get stuck bored, sipping expensive lattes later and sitting across each other, fiddling with our phones and practically being wordless for hours. I look at these aliens posing as my friends-I-have-not-seen-for-ages and I wonder if this is now the fate that befell us mortals. . . My beautiful red Tuesday flower and red musings for Mary's . . .

isn't that quite sad that alot of Filipinos don't know about Bonifacio. I think, a lot of Pinoys need reeducating so we can learn to appreciate more our country. What kind of flower is that? It looks really unique!
