My flower dog Bogart is posting my favorite malunggay flower at TodaysFlowers. Yes, the malunggay tree has flowers. Our avocado tree Yvon and Chicky, the chico tree, also has flowers. The tree flowers are happy indications that the tree is blooming and healthy. It signals the coming of fruits and happy birds. No wonder the maya birds never left our place! The trees are blooming and flowering practically all-year round in our tropical Heaven! That means more food for the birds and the perfect place to build their nests. . .

The malunggay plant (Moringa Oleifera, Sajina, etc.) is a natural healthy food and it comes free! We have malunggay plant everywhere and the neighbors won't mind if you ask them for a bunch of leaves. A cupful of malunggay leaves is high in calcium (the best alternative to milk especially for one with lactose intolerance like me) protein and fiber. It packs energy when you dry it and use it as tea. I love malunggay with my chicken soup which we call tinola. You boil the chicken with ginger, pepper, garlic and add the malunggay leaves after for a comforting hot soup on a lazy afternoon day while watching the dogs sleep and snore. Now this is what happens during a sunny interval between storms . . .
