Tuesday Cats . . .in Heaven!

. . . midnight
not a sound from the pavement
has the moon lost her memory?
she is smiling alone. . .
. . . meow-mories
all alone in the moonlight
i can smile at the old days
life was beautiful then . . .
let the memory live again . . .
. . . burnt out ends of smoky days
the stale cold smell of morning . . .
. . . the street lamp dies
another night is over
another day is dawning . . .

touch me! its so easy to leave me!
all alone with the memory
of my days in the sun . . .
if you touch me you'll understand what happiness is!
look, a new day has begun . . .

- from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats
(with some meow-alterations :-)

I was happy that the musical Cats was presented in Manila in August. It paved the way for me to make kids know and understand the plight of Pusakals. A cat is pusa in filipino and 'kal' stands for kalye or street. Thus, a "pusakal" is a street cat and an askal is a stray dog (aso). In the musical, a stray cat romanticized her plight which was a perfect vehicle for me to make people understand and sympathized about the plights of the 'homeless' in our midst, whether a pusa, aso, or even tao (people) . . . and make authorities consider a program for their rescue as protected by laws. My meow-ful entry for Gattina's Cats on Tuesday.

It is so sad that are so many feral cats and dogs. Their life is filled with hardships. I hope for all homeless animals to be rescued and in loving forever homes.
Thank you for visiting my blog, hope you will come again soon.

Beautiful kitty and beautiful verses!

I think it's so wonderful that are bringing attention to the homeless animals. Oh, how I wish that weren't a problem. It's a problem here in the US too.

Your pictures are wonderful!!

I hate that so many animals don't have homes. Nearly all of my cats/dogs have come from animal shelters. If I were rich, I'd have a cat sanctuary.
