I featured this Orchid that we have in our house Heaven last November. But on the first week of December, another shoot came out (December 7, 2010 to be exact) and this gorgeous beauty is still in full bloom as I write, surviving the holiday firecrackers pollution, the hot and cold weather, my dogs (nuffsed), my failure to water (sometimes when the weather gets too windy the plants get too dry!) and my distracted self. Plants love interaction with other beings so go ahead and tell them your stories . . .
. . . like the first bud we go through our rebirth . . . emerging from the dark cocoon of our colorful past. . . i shake off remnants of 2010 but most of it i pocket into the many sleeves of self to add to the many treasures of years past . . . it is after all what molds my flowering and soon, my own rebirth . . .
- mundane thoughts on NewYear's eve
This is my first post for 2011 and I share this with friends from TodaysFlowers by Luiz, Denise, Laerte and Sandy, and for Maia's Macro Flowers. And here's something for Amy for her Color Splash Sunday
As for my dogs, they survived the New Year's eve firecrackers (more on this next time) and are slowly out again enjoying some sunshine, some flowers, and maybe today, their first weekly bath when it gets sunny and warm . . .
Can you see Sumo above? And below is Sweepy . . .
I dedicate this post to my late dog Pica who was put to sleep last 2008 at age 17. If she is alive today she would be 19! Pica was Sumo's furever love and Sweepy's loveable Mumsy. Pica is now with her other pupsy Bogart who joined her on the Rainbow Bridge just last April.
Do I weep for my dogs? Oh yes I do. But only with happy tears. . .

Happy New Year Lui. Lovely orchids and shots.
The orchids are so pretty.I love the last shot best with the dog in the background.
It's amazing how this orchid is flowering continuously, it's very beautiful.
My orchids don't like winter, they all have new spikes but the buds dry off and fall down.
Wishing you a blessed and prosperous 2011, in Heaven.
Happy New Year!

What a lovely orchid! Looks so beautiful and fragile! I wish you and your family a Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you ! Such beautiful flowers, here we only see white and green and it's cold !
17 years for a dog is a wonderful age, although for us it's too short, but she will be forever in your heart. I have 3 cats sitting in mine !
I really have enjoyed following the progression of bloom! L
I've really enjoyed following the bloom progression... L
Orchids so often surprise one with a late spike. I like your progression from bud to flower, particularly the part black and white one. Well done.
To take a macro shot of my grevillea I would need a 20' ladder as well as a macro lens, neither of which I have.
Have a most wonderful New Year.
Blessings . . . Arija
