I saw these gorgeous blooms on a garden farm near the church last Wednesday. It has small flowers and the leaves are thick and lush. I asked the farm caretaker for the name and googled it afterwards and found equally exquisite blooms! Since it is my sister Luchie who do the planting in Heaven (my job is to clean the area and water the plants and shoo the dogs out of the fenced area! ;-0 not to mention, oogle and take pictures of the flowers *u*), I asked Luchie if we can perhaps have Medinilla in Heaven? It cost around P350 ($1: P43) Of course we can! But will Medinilla want to grow in a noisy place with clumsy beings running back and forth spreading pee mails on their path? Luchie left me to go ahead to church and I rushed after her, deliriously happy just to have that moment with Medinilla. . .
Some things are better left appreciated from afar. We need not own the things we love. Sometimes it is better to just enjoy and treasure all the moments we have with gorgeous blooms and other gorgeous stuff we need not own. Of course I can keep returning to the garden farm and relive the moment. Anytime.
And look! I thought Medinilla is all buds but there are some buds that burst forth with cute pink flowers perfect for Beverly's Pink Saturday:
And for Today's Flowers

UPDATED! March 13. Maia of Macro Flowers Saturday, who is celebrating its one year anniversary (Yey!) wanted me to return to the flower farm and take a shot of the Medinilla with all the buds blooming but this is all I saw this Sunday morning or Saturday if you're in the USA. The caretaker of the farm said the flowers bloom slowly and may take sometime for all the buds to open up. Below are the most recent shots I took with a few flowers opening. Maybe next week all the buds will be open!
Also: I try to post early and just schedule my post so I was not able to report about the Japan tsunami which affected the shorelines in the Philippines with little impact. I attribute it to the prayers of everyone which we are now doing for the people of Japan, which is one of our neighbor countries! Our prayers and hope for their recovery and comfort for the victims and survivors.

Lovely flowers! :) You have a good friend in your sister! ;)
I heard about the tsunami in Japan, and I got worried for you, but I can now see you are here.. :) I'm happy.. Did you feel it at all?
The nature is nice and lovely, but can also be hard and awful..
Have a nice weekend my friend, all the best to you and Sweepy and Sumo and your lovely Heaven! :)
Medinilla is a very beautiful plant, I only saw it in the flower center.

These are just divine and wouldn't they be a wonderful addition to Heaven! Love the tiny blossom opening up in the last pics.
Now I know that is pays to be late getting around to visiting, lol. I get to see the first blooms on the plant which I simply love. What a wonderful treasure. I so agree with you that we do not need to own beautiful things, there are so many aren't there, but we can take joy in looking at them and always go back and look at our pictures. Keep us posted on the future blooms. Also I too pray for the people of Japan. Such devastion. Am glad you are ok where you are. Blessings.
i didn't now they come in white, too. i've seen them in purple. beautiful shots.
amazing beauty are these Medinilla. I love the clusters of blooms, be sure to get a photo when they all bloom.
Thanks Lui for updating the post with new pictures. The must be very beautiful when all flowers open.
There are several species, this must be Medinilla myriantha-Malaysian Orchid.
The one I saw is Medinilla magnifica, somehow different. I've posted it to MFS for you.
They are native to the Philippines, so you should see many of them.
Hello Lui, another exotic plant I have never seen. Sweet little buds:)
I have never seen that flower before. It is really pretty and your photography really shows the hues perfectly.
