As you probably know by now, Storm Peping (Parma) stayed in the Philippines for more than a week, stayed overnight, then left, then returned, tried to leave again but failing to do so, returned and devastated portions of Northern Luzon! Since my country is just an island separated by several bodies of water, storms that carry too much rain can practically wipe out cities! The Filipinos were not even done helping the flooded victims of Storm Ondoy (Ketsana) and Storm Peping added to our woes. People everywhere were setting up relief operations. People were donating food, clothes, medicine, their services . . . I have not met anybody who is not helping or donating anything for the flood victims. This is so Pinoy (Filipinos). The resilience of Filipinos in times of calamities, which can make some foreigners uncomfortable, is their capacity to find humor even in difficult times, and the faith and belief that whatever situation they find themselves in, they can rise again and start all over! Just like my trees! When one of them, Chicky our chico tree, was invaded with pests and her wood was practically eaten by ants, Chicky remained singing and dancing in joy! When I touch her and sing with her, Chicky's sick world is alright. Chicky will remain steadfast as long as there are beings who continue to care, love and yes, sing with her . . .much like the Pinoys. . . much like myself! ;-)

A lovely post. My heart goes out to all those who have had devastation due to the floods and I greatly admire the Filipino people for their positive attitude.
We in Southern California are joining hands to give in every possible way. There are so many local organizations working for this cause. Thanks for this post.
I am glad that we missed Parma although it still brought quite a lot of rain, strangely to the Northern part of Taiwan. We heard from the news that it is one of the slowest Typhoon. Sorry for the damage that it inflict on Philippine.
