This flower belongs to Flor, the lady who comes to our house every weekend to do the laundry. My dog Bogart featured this same flower when it bloomed last August. I was told the flowers were called Espada Espanola and they seem to bloom all year-round. I see these flowers around our subdivision and they come in vivid red, orange and yellow. Too bad our kid camera can not take good close-up shots. Anyway, this flower is a fitting tribute to Manny Pacquiao, the Filipino boxer who just won his 50th fight and the first fighter in the world to win in 7 different weight divisions! A real sportsman and the country's pride. Congrats Manny! This flower is also my loving tribute to our distant cousin Tita who died this weekend from several complications. Flowers are great reminders of several triumphs: from a sportsman struggle to be the best in his sport to a fun woman who struggled over her sickness and instead of feeling defeated chose to happily accept her fate and left fond memories.
