A Wandering Soul A-Visiting . . .

When I was a kid I was told that when people die their souls refused to leave the physical plane until they get to visit their loved ones even for the last time. But since their bodies are already dead, the souls inhabit other bodies that will allow them to roam and be seen by their loved ones. And I was told that most of the bodies that departed souls borrow for this final visit are the beautiful bodies of butterflies! Which is why, after so many years of growing up, getting skeptical and smart and not so wide-eyed innocent anymore, those childhood tales taught you would suddenly caught up with you in those vulnerable moments, when the day seemed awry and a magical surprise like a butterfly chasing you (instead of the other way around!) and watching you and following you around (and allowing itself to be photographed!) suddenly made sense when you later found out that somebody died that day. . . Could that be you, Mamita? Could that be your smile that I saw in that magical creature that flew around me and before my unbelieving eyes? Childhood tales or not, grown up and not as smart and as skeptical as the others, I held on to that tale of long ago, and held that vision of a beautiful creature who flew and kissed me before the skies roared and the rains fell in our little house called Heaven . . . . For all who still believe in magic and for all wide-eyed innocents and most especially for Lisa's Macro Monday . . .

I grew up with such tales too from the older generations, but now I do not believe it anymore.
