Today we join hundreds of bloggers who will simultaneously talk about PEACE! Peace is such an expansive concept that people often go to war when they discuss this very topic and in the process achieved the opposite of peace. But is peace the absence of war? Is silence the better solution to avoid conflict? I once encountered a forum where I was asked if I prefer silence or confrontation in an argument. Or course I chose the latter. I would rather go through the stressful phase of openly discussing issues rather than to zip my lips to avoid a messy confrontation. Although there are situations where I opted to remain silent if I feel that an open communication is not possible with people who can not handle 'passionate discussions' and feel threatened by it. So when I encounter them in a dialogue and it gets heated I simply back off. My sepia world for Mary's SepiaScenes.
So since today is also Self Sagacity's Two Questions Thursday, here are my two Qs: (1) What does peace mean to you? (2) Do you believe in world peace? And since today is a special day, please consider this bonus question if it applies to you: if english is not your major language, how do you say "peace" in your own language?

And my own answer to my 2 Qs:
1. Peace is the resolve to make the world orderly, livable, safe, fun, productive, and make us grow better!
2. World peace is when people invest in community building and not in war building.
And to the bonus Q:
Peace is "kapayapaan' in filipino.
Have a peaceful world!
Hi!
Nice picture in Sepia.
1. My peace is the bliss of peace and quiet after taking care of twins all day.
2. I don't really think world peace is possible. As there are so many different opinions, no one could possibly agree.
Have a great day!

If any of us are going to have peace we have to treat each other with the respect we would want them to treat us. Peace and trust go hand in hand in my opinion. U don't think world peace is possible because there is too much greed all over the world. Great post.
I'll start with question two. No, I don't think there will ever be world peace. History just keeps repeating itself, and mankind doesn't seem capable of learning the valuable lessons it presents to us. War is hell!
I do believe, though, that we as individuals can find peace within, mainly through love and service and believing in a higher power. And rather than give this higher power a name that will further divide, I call IT LOVE.
Your photo in really cool. I think peace can take on many different meanings - but it has a lot to do with tolerance, and until everyone starts teaching tolerance over hate I'm not so sure world peace is possible. Kinda sad, huh?
Peace for me is when I don't have to hear my mother complain. When she is happy and appreciate all things within her control.
I do believe in world peace and wish that we have this. Unfortunately we don't. Why can't the countries be happy with what they have instead of trying to take from one another. For example: Viet Nam is a country other countries just can't leave alone - and I am only referring to the countries that kept on trying to dominate VN.
Have a good weekend.
1. Peace for me, means being stress free. It's difficult in this day and age but it can be done by changing the way you look at things.
2. I believe world peace is possible though I doubt it within my lifetime. We have to learn to shed expectations and try to understand each other.
Peace means contentment to me. I believe in world peace if everyone just throw their weapons and power-hunger away!
Peace has so many different meanings, on a personal level I feel it is a state of mind. On a world level it seems to be a time between conflicts.
I don't think there will ever be world peace as long as there are greedy individuals in the world. But it would be a wonderful thing.
My primary language is English but I do know a little Spanish, peace would be Paz.
It can be difficult to understand the best road toward peaceful resolution.
Peace.
I think it would take longer than comments here to work out what i think peace is...even if I were to say something, the moment I finished sending the comment, I would think of something else...and again...and again...
But, I guess, top of my head, peace=harmony, in whatever form...whether between nations, between people, or within yourself.
And so, I wish you harmony x
Love the creativity in your photo. Peace means no shooting, no war, no fighting..
I do believe in world peace, it will take a while, but it will be here..
First I must say I just love those beautiful photos you've made! You're clever! I believe in peace.. Peace in a group (many people) I don't know, it depends on the different people.. If we coul hope for the best, manner in the best way, I would believe.. But wars can also come out of holding feelings locked in, avoiding problems, afraid to stay open to the problems in case any bad reactions-- it's not always good to be quiet.. Then "the bomb", the attack, will come for a day.. I don't know.. I think it's difficult the more people and the more different we are....
But that one person can have peace with him- or herself I can believe.. Maybe the peace from one person that is beeing sent out, will come with still more pweace in return.. and reflect and copy itself to the people around.... (?)
Peace for me means that I want to consentrate for the good things, the positive things, to remember to be kind, to keep in touch with other people wanting my contact, and the light.. the magic of the light.. to meditate.. to get calm..
Some of the things peace means to me.. :)
