Yes, today belongs to me. It is mine. I own it. All the seconds and minutes of it, I own it. I dictated my waking hours and took my time getting up from bed. I knew I have to be up early but I declared that whatever needs to be done will be done in its own sweet time. So I got up and got an instant surprise! It was an envelope from a loved one with cash telling me to buy my birthday cake and ice cream! I held my gift in my hands and practically gloated. I went smiling at the world and held the things around me with love . . .
This is our sturdy Hoya plant. Lately, it suffered from the chilly night and windy days. Now, with the sun hinting at the coming summer days, our Hoya started bursting with little buds. It is now singing with me! I would like to think it is singing my birthday song! Ha!
Life has been a struggle for so many people now. With so many variables sprouting at every turn it is so easy for anyone to feel the pressure of living amidst political, economic and social unrest and nature's changing face and phase. But one needs to learn to embrace a different paradigm. To see and live differently. Above is Hoya from a different angle. Below is the same angle but this took a few days (two days) for all the little flowers to open. . .
To see Hoya with new eyes. To view it and the world and all our concerns with new eyes can probably afford us another perspective that will inspire hope, faith, and inspiration to cope, to resolve, and own our world with all its changing moods and turns . . .
I own this day. And I will seize it. So instead of buying a cake I bought a freshly baked local delight of a buko pie (coconut meat and milk as filling) because it is much healthier than the multi-layered cake I crave for. I would have bought yogurt and fresh fruits but gave in and bought ice cream for the family. I did not cook my favorite pasta and settled for the simple fish and chopped veggie salsa. I updated my vitamins and healthy drinks. I limbered up some yoga moves with my dogs and hugged them. I hugged our blooming trees. And I am hugged in return. I am hugging the world with all its ups and down.
My Hoya is surviving the elements. I should too. Happy Birthday World! I'm not getting off . . .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUI!!!!
It sounds like you had a wonderful day, and I am so glad. You know, not very often, but every once in awhile, I am able to do just what you did today. Make it my own. And I have found that in doing so, I am a much better person both mentally and physically.
Thank you so much for sharing this today at The Creative Exchange, and I wish you a beautiful evening!

A belated **Happy Birthday!** :)
I knew this was a hoya flower from the first shot - I recognised it because my parents had one in their summer room and the scent was just heavenly and it dripped very sticky sap that I always thought should be used for something!
Lovely!
