Scavenger Hunt Sunday

New. Our orchid plants are being attacked by ants! So I held this new shoot and imbued it with healing powers and hopefully it will bloom in time!

Life. I love touching new roots around our small garden and feeling life throbbing and growing even in lousy weather and keepers ;-)

Fragrant. I loooove the smell of garlic, onions, tomatoes and peppers sauteed in hot oil on a pan! It does not matter what is added to it, it makes any dish flavorful!

Pink! I spotted the cotton candy vendor in church after mass! Business was brisk! But not with me because I did not buy a stick!

Obvious. When I see these ingredients on the kitchen counter I knew that my sister Luchie (The Cook) will be soon be making Guinatan, a yummy sweet dish that combines the sago (tapioca), langka slices (jackfruit), bilo-bilo (rice flour made into balls), kamote (sweet potatoes) and saba (a type of bananas) and boiled with rich coconut cream and sugar!

It is fasting and abstinence in my country during the Easter week but since most of the people (and animals!) in our house are in their senior years except for me, they are all excluded from the sacrifice. Still, Luchie felt that we should all abstain from meat except for my dog Sweepy, who can not NOT eat meat and is thus exempted! But eating Guinatan and yummy meat-less food does not seem such a sacrifice. Anyway, happy Easter everybody!

Our human loves the smell of sauteed vegies too. Hope the ants will leave those roots of your lovely orchids alone.

Wonderful photos. I love orchids but they only thrive in the conservatory here and not outside.
Happy Easter x

Cotton candy, yum! I haven't had breakfast yet, but whatever Guinatan is, it is sure to be tasty. Nice response to the prompts.

Love the macro flowers below, too. Beautiful!

Aaaah, now I got very curious on lucie's sweet dish, Guinatan.. a sort of sessert maybe? tell your sister I want to taste it :))

The pink spinny thing I used to eat once a year when I was a girl when I was on the fairground.. but those I can avoid nowadays, as I really do not like white sugar!

Onions and arlics, tomatoes and peppers I love just the same as you! :)

I'm sorry to hear the ants have invaded.. I hope you will succeed to get them away!

Lovely Easter to you! :)

I completely agree about the aroma of onion, peppers, and garlic saluting - makes the mouth water. Nice shots of the pink cotton candy.

a mild vinegar spray might remove ants.My parents used weak soapy water for some insects.

Make sure when you go out, wear your Frangipani in your right ear.

Great perspective on cotton candy.

Nice set, I really enjoyed reading your commentary to go with the photos. I wouldn't have thought about how fragrant those veggies are but after reading your post I realize that fragrant doesn't always have to be something floral.
